If you are unable to visit in person, we hope you enjoy the virtual school tour video below and that you find our website pages informative.

Our education here at Beehive Lane Primary is based on an all-round development of every child with our school values of Commitment, Aspiration, Respect and Enjoyment which are integral to everything we do. We really believe in our assertion that all children can reach their potential and that our ethos and culture supports all children to achieve this.

We believe that reading unlocks unlimited possibilities. From the very first day with us, our pupils begin to learn the skills to enable them to decode and understand language to ensure they become independent, confident and fluent readers at the earliest possible stage.

Providing high quality opportunities for children to really engage and enjoy in their learning is key. Our Beehive Curriculum includes a wide variety of rich educational visits and visitors that enriches their learning and knowledge and understanding of the world. These include theatre visits to the West End and a drama workshop at the Globe Theatre; historical trips such as to Tower of London, Colchester Castle and British Museum and scientific visits such as to Colchester Zoo. We engage the children in our local environment, our community and outdoor learning (eg Forest Schools).

Important life skills of debate, discussion, problem solving and reasoning are key elements of learning in our school in addition to the development of resilience and determination.

We are really proud of our Early Years Foundation Stage experience and how it prepares all children for their next stage of their education in Key Stage One. The children take part in adult initiated activities and have the opportunity to embed their learning through continuous provision. Both the indoor and outdoor classroom are used daily to facilitate this.

We are always delighted to answer any questions that you can send in by email to admin@beehivelane.essex.sch.uk. We will collate them and provide answers for you either on the website or through personal correspondence where the question is of a nature specific to your child’s individual needs.
