Cyclic rhythm patterns & African drumming

In  their music lessons Year 5  have been learning about cyclic rhythm patterns and African drumming. They have been composing percussion pieces  including one named Bingo Jango.

The class performed some of their work to the whole school in assembly. We were all impressed with the way they beat out a rhythm using cups and body parts. They even composed their own version of ‘Stomp’ (as seen at the Olympics) using and boxes and brooms  as improvised percussion instruments.
