At the start of every year, children at Beehive Lane elect various representatives to provide pupil views and to be the children’s voice at our school.
Each class elects representatives for the School Council. The group meets once a term to discuss matters that are important to the pupils. School council has an input on the charities which we choose to support each year and are responsible for helping out with the fund raising activities. In 2014 we raised money for Jeans for Genes, Children in Need, Comic Relief and to support Red Cross work in Syria.
School council members often conduct surveys with their class to get a wider picture of what all pupils think needs to be improved in our school. Members monitor needs within the playground, after school clubs and educational opportunities offered by the school.
Council members are also involved in staff recruitment and set their own questions for interview. They also play an important role in showing visitors and new pupils around the school environment.
